Cool Off Summertime PartyWater and Wild Fun for a Hot Day
July and August are very hot. Follow this simple plan and have a great party and cool off at the same time.
It's July or early August. The kids have been out of school for a month and are starting to get bored. Besides the weather outside is hot hot hot! It's time to plan a party to celebrate the heat while keeping cool. Planning the PartyThe first step is to decide on a date and location. A raindate should be chosen as well in case the weather on the chosen date is not conducive to outside water play. The party can be had in a backyard or at a local outdoor water venue. A pool is not necessary for the party but it does add to the fun. Next, a guest list should be created. With the whole family, decide how many people to invite and ages of the invitees. Whole families can be invited to add to the fun. A decision about the times of the party and types of food to be served should be made at this point as well. Next the host will need to decide what supplies are needed. If there is no outdoor pool available, several wading pools can be set up around the yard to be used. The host can ask guest families to bring their wading pools over so he need not buy several himself. In addition, squirt guns, water balloons, and pool toys will all help add to the fun. Party ActivitiesThe most obvious activity is just letting the kids and parents swim and splash in the water. Games such as Marco Polo or Penny Diving can be played. Kids like to try and do flips underwater or style their wet hair into new an unique styles. More ideas can be found online or in the article, Cool Fun for a Hot Day. Relay races are another fun activity for parties. The relay could involve swimming across the pool while doing something silly. Silly ideas include swimming with a rubber duck on your head, pushing a beach ball across the pool with your nose or riding swimming noodles like boats and paddling across the pool. Cool Food for AllFood served at the party should be of the cold variety to keep with the theme. Many recipes for cold salads or soups can be found online. Frozen OrangesA fun cool treat is Frozen Oranges. For each orange you will need one whole orange, one cup of orange juice and one cherry. Cut the top of the orange and remove all insides. Blend the insides of the orange and the juice in a blender until smooth. Refill the orange with the mixture. Put a cherry inside the mixture in each orange. Freeze the orange. Serve with a spoon. Frozen Party FavorsNo party is complete in a child's eyes without a fun party favor. For each favor you will need one balloon and one small trinket (a toy or small piece of jewelry). Put the trinket into the balloon and fill the balloon with water. Freeze the balloons until solid. Cut the balloon off and give to the child. He can either hug the ice block or float in a kiddie pool until it is melted and the surprise is revealed. The hottest part of the summer lends itself to some cool party fun with just a little planning.
